The interaction between the main valve core and the pilot valve core in the hydraulic system, and the output performance of the hydraulic system is controlled by adjusting the pilot valve.The pilot valve is usually a small-sized control valve, mostly a pressure control valve. Its working principle can be summarized as the following points:

 

Hydraulic pressure action: Hydraulic pressure acts on the pressure measuring surface of the main valve core and the pilot valve core at the same time.When the pilot valve is not opened, the oil in the valve chamber does not flow, and the pressure acting on the upper and lower directions of the main valve core is equal.However, since the effective compression area of the upper end face is greater than the effective compression area of the lower end face, the main valve core is in the lowest position under the action of force, and the valve port is closed.‌

 

Overflow and pressure regulation: When the oil inlet pressure increases to open the pilot valve, the liquid flow flows back to the fuel tank through the damping hole on the main valve core and the pilot valve.Due to the damping effect of the damping hole, the hydraulic pressure in the upper and lower directions of the main valve core is not equal. The main valve core moves up under the action of the differential pressure, opens the valve port, realizes overflow, and maintains basically stable pressure.Adjust the pressure regulating spring of the pilot valve to adjust the overflow pressure.‌

 

Electromagnetic force and spring force action: When energized, the electromagnetic force opens the pilot hole, and the pressure in the upper chamber drops rapidly, forming a low and high pressure difference around the closing member, and the fluid pressure pushes the closing member to move upward and the valve opens; when the power is off, the spring force closes the pilot hole, and the inlet pressure quickly forms a low and high pressure difference around the closing valve through the bypass hole, and the fluid pressure pushes the closing member to move downward and close the valve.‌

 

Structural characteristics and application scenarios: The pilot-type relief valve is mainly composed of the main valve and the pilot valve. When the system pressure reaches the adjusted pressure, the pilot valve opens, and the hydraulic oil enters the lower chamber of the piston of the main valve, pushing the piston up, opening the main valve relief port, and maintaining the system pressure stability.This structural feature makes the pilot valve widely used in situations where precise control of the output performance of the hydraulic system is required.
